EXCLUSIVE: Bob Cooper and Richard Saperstein’s Storyscape Entertainment has acquired Backward Fall, a time-bending love story script penned by Byron Willinger and Phillip De Blasi. The duo’s The Commuter, starring Liam Neeson and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, just began production at Lionsgate.
The Backward Fall deal was for low six figures. The plot centers on a fantastical story about a man and a woman who are falling in love as they literally fall backward through time, sometimes landing in the same time period and sometimes losing one another for years. They struggle to stay together while trying to understand what is happening to them and why.
Alex Schwartz, head of feature films at Storyscape, brought the project to Cooper and Saperstein. The film and TV production company launched in November and has a first-look deal at Broad Green Pictures. On the film side, it currently has Entering Hades set up at Broad Green with Michael Fassbender set to star, as well as FBI Wedding at Universal and Stealing Time at DreamWorks. It also is producing the Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer The War Magician.
Willinger and De Blasi are repped by Verve.
